A ‘Mommy Makeover’ may include many different procedures. The body changes that occur following pregnancy include changes to facial skin, the tummy, labia majora and labia minora or the genital region, and the breast. The combination of surgeries performed will vary depending on the needs and desires of the patient. A ‘Mommy Makeover’ typically includes the following procedures:

Tummy tuck surgery, or abdominoplasty, is designed to remove excess skin and fat and repair separated abdominal muscles, which can occur for several reasons. For some, weight fluctuations or age may take a toll on the body. Pregnancy can also cause the separation of the abdominal muscles. The tummy tuck shapes and tones your abdomen by removing stubborn fat and lax skin and tightening weak muscles.

A tummy tuck is performed in the operating room under general anesthesia. The incision is placed between the hips at the bikini line. All incisions will be discussed in detail with you before starting the procedure. The incision will be made, and excess skin and fatty tissue will be removed. Dr. D’Souza will tighten your muscles to give you the ideal body contour, and all incisions will be carefully closed with sutures. Typically, the procedure takes between one and two hours to complete. Surgical drains will be placed in the abdominal wall for about one week afterward.
